Tracing should be banned

I legit see no reason why there's a button where it lets any user to trace. It brings toxicity to the community as it brings controversies and hate from both sides. Tracing isn't art, its like me going to a random persons home, stealing his stuff, and say that it's mine, it's dumb. The tracing option shouldn't be on this site, art is expressive and creative not just a quick way of getting likes and views. Please Bryan delete it, it just brings toxic and unoriginal "artists" on this site who manipulate this feature. Thank you.

May be not banned but at least reworked. Cause right now people can easily manipulate the feature and claim it as their own without giving any credit or say that it wasn't traced, I mean you could literally take out the URL so that your drawing doesnt have the trace tag on it. I think the URL should stay there forever if you want to trace. I think you should be forced to say who the original creator was before uploading it or at least not let the user upload the drawing as I heard people say it was for practice and there really is no point for users to gain likes and views from something that they don't own and is just for practice, and if they want to shout them out they could easily do that by drawing FANART, putting them in the description or just post it on their wall. In my opinion people who trace just use excuses so that they can continue to fool people into thinking that they are making original art.

I agree. I hate it when people are gawping over a 'brilliant' piece of art, saying, "OMG thats soo AMAZING!!!!!!" when it is clearly traced.
Hi there! I like to draw dragons, sometimes wolves and cats. I might not be super active with my art, but patience is a virtue!
Well, here is my opinion.
Tracing. It's bad and good in many ways. The bad thing is that many people use it to: Trace artwork created by users on here, trace artwork from other art sites, and trace staff picks. The good thing is that: It helps users draw by using an image as a guide, and many people trace bases for other users to use. To be honest, I'm on the side that says tracing is bad. Mostly because I see tons of art thief these days. The rate for art thief is getting worse every week. I see that most people do not give credit. That upsets me honestly. When I trace (I barely trace), I give credit to the creator and give the link. No one else does. Only some people give credit. Therefore, I say that the tracing option should be removed or redesigned for specific types of links.

Tracing barely even helps you learn. You would think it would but I learned from experience years ago (I didn't post any of it for likes though so don't worry--) it doesn't help. Using bases too. If you really want to learn to draw and take things seriously you need to draw it yourself to understand how it works. If you only draw by tracing or using bases, when you try to draw on your own you'll notice you can barely recreate the same skill level as when tracing something. And with bases you literally learn nothing. What I think works better (once again, I learned from experience) is if you google bases without hair, clothes etc and simply try and draw them the best you can without tracing and on normal paper. It helps you learn more about how to draw basic bodies to a certain level, but eventually you're going to need to stop and try and do it completely on your own. If you do this though, please don't share it without crediting the artist of the original base as it can still be counted as art theft.
Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile! I'm open for drawing requests (Pixel art or digital), please just ask. Also no re posting my art without permission first-- If you like my artwork, you can check me out on Instagram using the link below: https://www.instagram.com/kanglinnuriko/?hl=en Or if you feel unsafe using the link, just search "KangLinNuriko" on Instagram.
@KangLinNuriko I agree fully with what you've said...
Escpecially the part about actual practice. Even still work the human anatomy knowledge I have now, I still practice body studies (those are sketches of different parts of the human body.) Also like you've said, but Also use human anatomy like the torso, hip, hands, head shape, and skull. It doesn't matter what style you have. Whether realistic or cartoon, Western or Eastern, anime or comic style, it's benefitial to study human anatomy. In addition, studying the movements and different angles is helpful too.
Just... Stop it with the tracing. To be honest, that's what little kids do to learn drawing. They trace images and show it off cause they're little kids. You (most likely) should be old enough and draw properly and study art of you have the ----- (or. whatever...) to not give rights or credit the original artists. It's practically art theft.
If you have questions about practicing or anything like that, feel free to ask me....

Tracing is just a lame excuse for saying "I'm gonna trace this and It's my art because I basically drew it with my hands even though I traced it but I'm gonna say it's mine now" Well, I think it should be removed because every image (images of cartoon characters, things in YouTube videos, mascots, and all that) is considered art. Someone still drew it and it's still considered stealing.
